Wesley Barefield, Senior Pastor
Wesley Barefield has served as the Senior Pastor of Parkwood since 2017, providing biblical teaching, leadership, and direction to the staff and the church body. In his brief tenure as Senior Pastor, he has successfully led the church in a complete relocation of its campus from the Aldine area to Kingwood, TX. As a result, Parkwood has experienced significant growth in membership, attendance, and baptisms.
A native of Randolph, MS, Wesley holds a bachelor’s degree in history, a master’s degree in Bible exposition, and a doctorate in discipleship, all from Liberty University. He and his wife, Lori, have three boys: Maddox, Avitt, and Ellis.
Aside from pastoring, Wesley enjoys teaching adjunctly at Liberty University, playing a round of golf, and coaching his sons’ sports teams.
Mark Thrift, Pastor Emeritus
Bro. Mark was the pastor of Parkwood Baptist Church for 31 years, from November of 1985 to January 2017. His father was the pastor here before him for twenty-two years. He travels and preaches extensively, and is a highly sought after conference and revival preacher.
Bro. Mark was saved at the age of sixteen, and felt the call to preach shortly thereafter. He attended Lynchburg Baptist College, Hyles-Anderson College, and graduated from Baptist Christian College in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1978 with a Bachelor of Theology degree. He obtained a Master’s degree from Trinity Valley Baptist Seminary & College in 2001.
Bro. Mark transitioned from the Pastor of Parkwood to Parkwood’s Pastor Emeritus in January of 2017. He now travels each week as a Missionary-Evangelist preaching revivals, camp-meetings, and conferences. He takes numerous mission trips each year, taking pastors with him each time.
